The back side of Monitor is my favorite climb of the Death Ride. It’s ten miles of a steady grade.

No very steep parts but no relief from climbing either. It’s very scenic and sunny. The day is warming.

It’s a great place to chat and observe one’s fellow riders.

I usually really hammer towards the top, but this time I kept to the plan and took it easy.

Two passes out of the way; three to go.

Monitor has a flat spot across the top. Straight ahead, far in the distance, is Round Top.
